Our Club
Wolf Creek Taekwondo is a newly established martial arts school and is proudly serving the town of Ponoka, Alberta and surrounding areas. We offer classes from ages 4 and up.

We teach the traditional Korean martial art of Taekwon-Do first developed by army General Choi Hong Hi for use as the unarmed combat discipline for military personnel.

Training is based both on proven time-honored traditional methods, as well as modern training techniques for a well rounded experience.

Classes throughout the year will have a balanced approach to all aspects of Taekwon-Do training.

Fitness • Fundamentals • Patterns • Sparring • Self-Defence • Mat Work • Power Breaking

Our goal is to be a positive force in our students' lives, and help each one reach their maximum potential in a friendly, safe and positive environment.

Our Mission
Our Mission is to help each student discover the path to becoming the best version of themselves. We want each student to discover their own inner fire and learn how to tap into it to become dedicated and unstoppable, but at the same time, be at peace. All of this starts at the beginning, forged from a strong foundation of moral values...

Tenets of Taekwon-Do

Courtesy
To demonstrate respect and to be polite to your seniors and fellow students. Observe etiquette and manners at all times inside and outside the dojang.

Integrity
To know right and wrong. To always be honest to others, and to yourself, even when no one is watching.

Perseverance
To strive to reach your goals and never give up on what you start, even when things get difficult.

Self-Control
To stay in control over your thoughts and your actions. Do not let your emotions control you. Focus your mind and body on the task at hand.

Indomitable Spirit
To show courage even in the face of overwhelming odds. Stand up for what is right and what you believe in. Stand strong no matter who you go against and what obstacles are in your way.

Wolf Pups
4-7 years old

The newest litter of Wolf Pups will be met with a friendly, energetic, encouraging and fun-filled learning environment. Here the new pups will learn the fundamentals of martial arts training through a series of targeted games and drills.

Sessions are designed to develop the pup both mentally and physically. They will learn social skills like Listening, Taking Turns, Team Work, and physical skills like Balance, Coordination, and Fundamentals.

Wolf Cubs

7-12 Years Old

Now is where the growing Wolf Cub moves from taking small steps around the den to larger strides as they advance in their martial arts journey.

With training rooted in the 5 Tenets of Taekwon-Do they will develop mentally with improved Discipline, Focus, Concentration, Self-Esteem, Confidence and Respect. Physically the Wolf Cub will improve Speed, Agility, Strength and Self-Defence.

Periodically throughout the seasons, the Wolf Cubs will come together before their elders and have their skills put to the test. Not only will they be evaluated against themselves and pitted against each other, the cub will discover the true battle is how well they begin to master the 5 Tenets of Taekwon-Do. Cubs who demonstrate true dedication and self improvement will be victorious and have the honor of humbly dawning new colors to reflect their triumph.

Wolf Pack
13 Years and Up

Continuing on the foundations forged as Wolf Cubs, members of the Wolf Pack will find their pack is stronger when their personal strengths are shared.

Wolf Pack members will begin to hone their leadership skills and pass down the experience and knowledge they have gained.

As the Wolf grows, so does their view of the world grow. With a focus on confronting the growing battlefields within, the Wolf’s training will heavily focus on improving Fitness, Flexibility, Strength, Endurance and Power. Mentally the Wolf will experience improved Self-Control, Leadership Skills, and Stress Relief. These traits will help them in the day-to-day battles they face.

Dire Wolves (Open Mat)
Advanced Students

This is an extra 30 minute session at the conclusion of the Wolf Pack class available for advanced and other highly motivated students to further sharpen their instincts. Here the Dire Wolves can continue to hone their keen senses by further developing their skill in Patterns, and Advanced Techniques or have additional training time for Sparring, Tournament Prep and more. While not an official class, instructors will still be available for consultation.

Mrs. E (Missy) started her martial arts career in 2013. She started training along with her husband and immediately fell in love with Taekwondo. Her journey from student, to instructor to mentor has spanned over a decade where she has earned belts in multiple disciplines. Along the way, she has met some incredible people and has touched many lives.

Mrs. E’s love for teaching started suddenly when she was unceremoniously thrust into the role due to an emergency, and was the most senior student available. Since then she has taken a real joy in instructing. She especially loves teaching the youngest students, and will be found running the wolf pups class. The students really love her encouraging and nurturing approach to class. In her own words, she feels honored to be given the opportunity to pass the knowledge down to the next generation of warrior women.

When not teaching, Mrs. E loves to challenge herself with the rush and excitement that comes with competition. She has competed in tournaments ranging from small local in-house gatherings, to world stage events. She boasts an impressive collection of hardware (medals) owing to her grit and determination against all odds.
